Travel Tuesday: How The West Was Proud

A vibrant pride parade featuring a large rainbow flag being carried by a diverse crowd celebrating LGBTQ+ pride.

Even though Pride Month officially ends tonight at 11:59:59 p.m., the party doesn’t have to stop.

Luckily, you’ve got two incredible options to escape the Texas heat for some cool West Coast evenings. It may still be hot during the day, but at least there’s a post-sunset reprieve for a few hours, unlike the toasty nights we’re currently experiencing here in Dallas.

San Diego Pride and Portland Pride take place the same weekend, which mean’s you’ll need to make a Sophie’s Choice between the two if you want to get your rainbow fix in either California or Portland.

San Diego’s one of our favorite cities in all of California, and also one of the queerest. Same can be said for Portland, land of free spirits and quirky souls.

So, really, it all comes down to which destination speaks to you the loudest because they’re equally great.

Both have parades, live music festivals and events galore. San Diego has the ocean, but Portland has lush green forests.

Or maybe see which desination has the cheapest fares to make your decision for you.

Either way, you deserve a little vacation in the west.
