Where To Eat This Weekend: D.L. Mack’s In West Village

After a major exodus of restaurants over the past several years, West Village has rebounded with several new outposts of popular concepts.

Most recently, the third location of D.L. Mack’s joined the shopping center and it’s a wonderful addition.

Shockingly, we’ve never been to the Chicago-inspired eatery all these years, so it was fun to finally pop in to see what all the fuss is about.

Of course, by fuss, we mean the “Famous Chicken Tenders.”

If Shakespeare were alive, he’d devote volumes of iambic pentameter to these incredible, crispy morsels of poultry perfection.

Taylor Swift could sing an entire album’s worth of songs expressing her desire to marry the cole slaw in front of the whole world at Madison Square Garden.

And porn director ChiChi LaRue could certainly create an X-Rated opus with beautiful people doing naughty things with barbecue and honey mustard sauces.

Yes, these might be the best chicken tenders we’ve had since our college days in Denton. (R.I.P., State Club).

A close-up of a martini glass filled with a clear cocktail, garnished with olives, set on a wooden ledge with a softly lit bar in the background.
Just look at that beauty!

Don’t even get us started on the insanely cold, ice-chip-laden martinis. They’re served in huge 1990s-era-size glasses and the fact that they’re only $10 during happy hour could be a very dangerous thing, indeed.

If all you get is tenders and ‘tinis, you’ll be a happy camper, but we recommend the chicken meatballs, spinach-artichoke dip and build-your-own Chicago tavern-style pizzas.

Oh, and the chocolate chip cookie skillet shouldn’t be overlooked, either.

[sigh]

Why do we keep stuffing ourselves with such yummy food in the middle of swimsuit season?

Damn you, D.L. Mack’s and your delicious indulgences!
