Another Chance To Become Part Of Dallas Queer History

A collage of photographs and newspaper clippings displayed on a corkboard, featuring memories from Oak Lawn, Dallas, TX, including a rainbow flag and references to local events like a Pride parade.

You know what they say: A picture’s worth a thousand drag queens.

Or a thousand Halloween block parties.

Perhaps a thousand Pride parades.

For the second time this year, Badge of Pride, The Dallas Way, Dallas Social Queer Organization (DSQO), and Coalition for Aging LGBT join forces to collect photos, newspaper clippings and other memorabilia that capture the history of Dallas’s LGBTQ+ nightlife over the decades.

Dig through your drawers, dust off those photo albums, grab all the photo booth pics attached to your fridge with magnets.

Then bring them to Resource Center Thursday, July, 23 so they can all be scanned and archived for a visual time capsule of sorts.

We’re giving you plenty of time because we know sometimes tracking down old photos can require a little time.

The lovely and talented Jenna Skyy will keep you entertained while your photos are scanned.

So, come for the show, stay to be part of the Portal to Texas History, a public exhibition debuting this fall.

Hell, take a few snaps this weekend when you’re out on the town and drop by with the prints.

Say cheese, queers!
