They Really Should Call It Ecstatic Hour

Sometimes you come across a deal that’s so amazing, it’s almost too good to be true.

But then you experience it first-hand and realize it’s not a dream at all.

That’s a pretty accurate way of looking at the happy hour at Texano Cocina on Lemmon Avenue. We’ve become obsessed with this restaurant lately because of its wonderful lunch specials.

But last week, we finally made it in time for happy hour, which runs each Tuesday to Friday from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. In fact, we showed up right at 2:00 and made a late lunch out of it instead.

Because this happy hour’s busting at the seams with delicious plates at incredible prices.

Start with queso blanco, bean and cheese nachos or cheese quesadillas for only $5 apiece.

Shrimp and redfish ceviche tostaditas (pictured above) come three to an order for $9.

Guac is $6, individual soft or crispy tacos are $3 and four Texas torpedos (chicken-and-cheese stuffed deep-fried jalapeños) will only set you back six bucks for four.

If you’re really hungry and all the share plates haven’t stuffed you to the brim, then the big plate on the menu is the double-patty Smashed Burguesa topped with cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles and chipotle aioli—piled high and served with fries. That one’s $11, but huge!

Boozy drinks start at $3 for beer by the bottle; wines by the glass are $5, and a diverse selection of tequila-based cocktails, including margaritas and ranch waters, range from $5-$7.

Protip: The margaritas are nice and strong, so two will do you right.

Before you go, sign up for the Texano Cocina Rewards and you’ll immediately get a reward good toward a small Cowboy Queso (pictured above). Each visit, you’ll earn more points that you can save for more free food and even margaritas.

Texano Cocina’s happy hour is an incredible gateway to discovering the quality food and attentive service. Plus, every time we’ve been, we see lots of LGBTQ+ people, which always makes us feel warm and fuzzy.

Then again, so does a giant bowl of queso and flour tortillas.
