SPCA Pet of the Week: Chanel Is Ready for the Soft Life

Chanel has reached an age where she knows the value of a comfortable bed and a little peace and quiet. Frankly, relatable.

This 8-year-old Terrier mix weighs 40 pounds and comes with one extremely persuasive smile. Those little white feet look suspiciously like she showed up wearing socks. But Chanel’s most expressive feature may be at the other end. Her waggy behind has plenty to say whenever she’s feeling the love.

She can be tender-hearted at first, so Chanel will do best with someone who understands that affection doesn’t always arrive on demand. Give her some time to settle in and a calm place to feel safe. Once she gets comfortable, there is plenty of sweetness waiting underneath those fabulous ears.

Right now, Chanel needs a foster home while the SPCA of Texas gets her feeling better. Allergies have been causing itchy skin and ears, and her veterinary team is treating those issues. She is also waiting for dental work. Her upcoming spay surgery will include removal of a few masses.

The SPCA of Texas will cover Chanel’s medical care while she is in foster, along with her food and supplies. Her foster family’s job is mostly to give her a loving place to recover and watch how she’s doing. They’ll also bring her back for scheduled veterinary appointments.

Once Chanel is ready for adoption, being a woman of experience comes with a nice benefit. She qualifies as an SPCA of Texas Senior Sweetheart, which means her adoption fee will be free. The program applies to pets age 6 and older.

Chanel has some healing to do first. What she needs now is someone willing to give this sweet older girl a comfortable place to land while she gets back to feeling fabulous.

That smile can handle the rest.
