If your type is older, handsome and emotionally available, Thor would like a word.
Thor is a 7-year-old German Shepherd mix with a gorgeous fluffy coat, soulful eyes and the kind of gentle face that makes you want to sit down beside him for a while. At 72 pounds, he is a substantial gentleman, but everything the SPCA has learned about him suggests his personality is considerably softer than his size.
Thor is having a tough time in the shelter environment. He seems much better suited to a calm home with someone willing to give him a little time to settle in and understand that he is safe.
Once that trust is there, the good stuff comes out. A foster who spent time with Thor described him as fantastic, calm, sweet and obedient. In other words, this man has references.
And at seven, Thor has also graduated from the puppy-chaos portion of the program. He is looking for companionship more than commotion. Think peaceful walks, quiet afternoons at home and a big fluffy presence who is perfectly happy knowing his person is nearby.
Thor is also one of the SPCA of Texas’ Senior Sweethearts, a program for pets age six and older. That means his adoption fee is free.
He has plenty of love left to give. What he needs now is someone willing to give him the calm, secure home where he can finally relax enough to show it.
Thor is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. He is waiting at the SPCA of Texas Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas. You can meet him any day of the week from noon to 6 p.m.
