Moose, a 4-year-old Doberman Pinscher mix available for adoption at the SPCA of Texas.

Moose looks like he could pull off a tuxedo. Fortunately, his idea of a good entrance involves a wagging tail and a friendly hello.

This 4-year-old Doberman Pinscher mix weighs 63 pounds and has a sleek black coat with handsome tan markings. He is gentle and affectionate, happy to greet people who stop by and generous with the sweet nuzzles. The distinguished face may get your attention first, but the warm welcome is what makes you want to stay.

He is also smart and ready to keep learning with someone who enjoys spending time with him. A neighborhood stroll or a relaxed evening at home would suit this fellow just fine. Moose would love to be the familiar face waiting when you walk through the door, especially on a day when the rest of the world has been considerably less pleased to see you.

For all his good looks, Moose’s wish list is modest: someone to love and a cozy place to settle in. He has spent more than 60 days at the shelter, which makes him one of the SPCA of Texas’ Longtime Lovables. His adoption fee is waived.

That is a long time for a dog this eager to make friends to wait for his own person. A visit gives you the chance to meet him beyond the photograph and see whether that friendly face belongs in your daily life.

Moose already has the polished look and welcoming personality. Now he needs a home where he can put them to good use.

Moose is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccines. Meet him at the SPCA of Texas Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas, any day of the week from noon to 6 p.m.
