This September, head to Austin for a brand-new festival of music, drag, film and art: The Big Queer Weekend.
The four-day celebration has its official coming-out party on Thursday, September 24. The multi-venue event comes from some heavy hitters in the entertainment industry and LGBTQ+ communities: SXSW, the Austin LGBT Chamber of Commerce and aGLIFF, Austin’s LGBTQ+ film festival.
Over the course of the long weekend, attendees can experience a variety of feature films and documentaries, shorts, a queer artist and artisan marketplace, plus the Pride in Local Music Showcase, hosted by Maxine LaQueene (pictured above).
The full lineup features free events, as well as ticketed events starting at only $10. Get a weekend pass that includes all six film programs and Sunday’s Queer Creatives Networking Brunch and Pool Party.
It’s the perfect excuse for a road trip or super-short Southwest Airlines flight to the capital city.
