It was barely yesterday that our livers finally dried out after going to the 15th annual Gay Wine Weekend this past July.
So, by the time GrapeFest rolls around in two weeks, we’ll be ready to suck down some Sauvi B., pound some Pinot and chug-a-lug some Cabernet.
Now celebrating the festival’s 40th year, Grapevine welcomes wine lovers from all over for a four-day celebration this September 17-20.
What makes this particular wine fest so perfect for North Texans starts with the location. Grapevine is less than 30 minutes from Dallas and Fort Worth and no more than an hour from most of the furthest suburbs.
That means it’s far enough away to justify a hotel stay, especially if you’re partaking in all that vino.
But it’s also not so far away that you can’t pop over to Grapevine after work on Thursday and still be home in time to binge a couple of shows on your sofa by Sunday night.
Over the course of the long weekend, GrapeFest truly brings enough wine-centric fun to put any ancient Roman Bacchanalia to shame.
You’ll have your choice of multiple tasting events (including VIP experiences ), the chance to stroll along the Urban Wine Trail for a self-guided tasting experience, hop aboard the Harvest Wine Train, feel the squish between your toes during GrapeStomp, test your skill at the Champagne Cork Shoot-Off, and eat your way through numerous food tents and top-notch restaurants along Historic Main Street.
Grapevine offers several incredible hotels, too, including three we highly recommend: the four-star boutique Hotel Vin, Grapevine, Autograph Collection; the city-within-a-city Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center; and the equally massive Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center.
Hotel Vin is walking distance to the WineFest action, but the Gaylord and Hilton are just a short jaunt away—and they’re both serviced by the Grapevine Visitor Shuttle. It may just come down to whether you wish to earn/spend your Marriott Bonvoy points or Hilton Honors.
Heck, even if you pop over to Grapevine for a few hours, it’s still a quick getaway that feels worlds removed from the hustle and bustle of Dallas.
However, by the time you’re staring into the bottom of your third glass of wine, we’re pretty sure you’ll decide it’s better to spend the night.
